AHBN Trains NGOs on Organizational Development, as YOSPIS Set to Convene Youth Summit
A foremost African organization that focuses on sustainable and innovative health financing and enabling advocates to meaningfully influence developmental services, the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has trained Non-Governmental Organizations in improving their capacity to write saleable proposal that can enhance their chances to access funding towards achieving their organizational goals.
Following the programme, one of the benefitting partners of the initiative, the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) would be convening a National Youth Summit that would champion youth affirmative actions.
Other benefitting partners of the two-days strategic retreat held weekend at Bafra International Hotel Kaduna include the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS), the Sickle Cell Community, the Accountability Mechanism for MNCH in Kano State (AMMKaS), the and the Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR).

Declaring the workshop open, the coordinator of AHBN, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba said the retreat is an opportunity to support the benefitting partners who are already rooted in their various areas of development service, to do better in having access to information and writing proposals for grants that will improve their chances in the donor market.
“Sometimes it’s not as if there is no funding to finance what most of us do but because we are not pressing the right button or within a network that could open the doors to the right information for us, then we miss these opportunities,” Magashi lamented.
While declaring that there would be practical session in access the websites of some of this network, Magashi approved payment for premium plan subscription sponsored by AHBN for all the participating partners.
In a statement signed by the President of the Nigerian Cancer Society, Dr. Adamu Alhassan Umar, the NCS stated that the retreat is a major leap in the direction of service to humanity.
“This will no doubt strengthen us and empower our capacity to reorganize and reposition for greater impact,” the NCS said.
Also reacting, the Executive Director of AMMKaS Hajiya Hafsat Kolo said, the retreat has inspired AMMKaS to continue to support advocacy and implementation efforts towards the 10years Minimum Service Package in Kano State for primary healthcare.
Other participating partners will be working on implementing workplans in areas of health advocacy and environment as YOSPIS in addition to the Youth Summit vows to enhance its ongoing “Hasken Matasa” programme for the benefit of youths in the society.
